Homeplace by Anne Rivers Siddons
Book Number:RC 26268
Micah Winship, banished from her small-town Georgia home by her father,
returns twenty years later as he is dying from cancer. She confronts the
demons
of her memories and her angry father, and finds new maturity and stability.
She also falls in love, thereby gaining a new perspective on human nature.
Strong language and explicit descriptions of sex.
Well, I'm on a real Siddons trip lately. This late in life coming of age
tale is a multi sided story.
Mike is caught up in the civil rights movement of the sixties and this is
one thing that forms who she is. Also the death of her mother and the
rejection of her father. She also learns about true love, friendship and
bitter betrayal. Next on my Siddons list is King's Oak. Both Homeplace
and King's Oak are rereads for me. Since it's been years since I had read
Homeplace, it was like looking into an old, favorite jewelry box and
finding a ring I'd never seen before. I would give this one a 5 out of 5.
Happy Reading,
Carla/TexasRed.

Thanks, Carla! I'll add this to my TBR list...it's very long! LOL

I am also a fan of Siddons. The HOuse Next Door and Fox's Earth are my favorites. I had such high hopes for Peachtree Road, and I love really long books, as that one is, but I just couldn't ever care aabout the characters.

I''ll give this one a try, though.
